My favorite weekends are the weekends that Garrett and I mostly stay home. He is much more of a homebody than I am, but he is rubbing off on me. We are both introverted people, but out of the two of us, I am much more outgoing. When we first got married, I would be itching to get out of the house and do something fun together on our days off of work. Now, I really value the time that we get to spend together within the walls of our own home. I know we are extremely blessed to be able to spend every weekend together, and I think it is a good sign that we can find ways to occupy our time without having to go out.
Friday night was spent at the in-laws house, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner of manacotti (my favorite food!) and played a couple rounds of Carcassone. If you have not heard of this game, I would suggest you buy it! It is a quick game that requires some amount of strategy, but not a lot. I really enjoy it, especially now that I have beaten Garrett at it the last 3 times. The best part is that it can be played with only 2 people, or more! We are always on the hunt for 2 player games.
Saturday I had a baby shower to go to in the afternoon, but we went on a date to Pearl's Oyster Bar in the evening. I had THE BEST lobster bisque. I do not belong in a land locked state. Our next vacation will be somewhere famous for its delicious seafood. After dinner we rented 21 Jump Street, which had the potential to be funny, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood for dumb/funny. I enjoyed cuddling up with Garrett though.
Sunday morning Garrett didn't feel well so we didn't go to church or to our usual lunch at the in-laws. We spent the afternoon watching How To Train Your Dragon, which I slept all the way through. After that we just took care of some little things like buying car insurance, working on our budget, etc. It was a nice relaxing day.
Here is my question for my readers ... if I have any ... what 2 player games do you enjoy? We have enjoyed Fluxx, Skip-Bo, and Backgammon, but are always on the hunt for more!
Enjoy your week friends. We are blessed to have somewhere to work. :)

well there's always the Lord of the Rings card game, Mikey and I played last night. It's pretty fun (as long as you don't pick a quest that's WAY stinkin hard)
ReplyDeleteYou could also keep an eye on Wil Wheaton's "Tabletop" on Geek&Sundry's YouTube channel, sometimes he spotlights good 1 on 1 games, or casual games that can be played with as few as 2.
We like Rack-O. It involves some strategy, but isn't overly taxing like chess or some other awful thing along those lines. We also got BananaGrams recently, but Brevin doesn't like timed games, so we made our own version of the rules, which is what we typically do anyway. Also, try Farkle - it's a dice game. The rules are a bit complicated and we haven't played it in a while, but I remember liking it. You don't need anything besides dice, so just look up the rules online.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite two-person game is House Project. It involves something like towel bars or a new toilet and is a nifty challenge to your patience and communication skills. It can be pricey though. :) xooxoo
We too are blessed to have work. And a nice roof over our heads and a fuzzy friend to share our affections with. (Sorry about ending with a preposition.)
Kris and I play Milles Borne and Mancala. My parents used to play cribbage a lot. We have a cribbage board if you'd like to borrow it.
